The COTNS Board Meetings are held monthly, or semi-monthly, on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and are available to registrants and the public to attend online. 

The Board meeting times are posted on our home page two months prior to the date, and highlights from each Board Meeting are available below once approved. 

 

June 1, 2022

The Board met via video conference and completed the following items:

  • Reviewed Registrar’s Report.
  • Reviewed 106 Allowable Expenses Policy
  • Reviewed and approved revised Credentials Committee Terms of Reference
  • Reviewed Draft Terms of Reference for the Executive Committee, the decision is deferred to September. 

April 22, 2022

The Board met via video conference and completed the following items:

   - Reviewed statutory Committee Reports

  • Credentials Committee
  • Investigations Committee
  • Practice Committee
  • Continuing Competence Committee

    - Reviewed College policies:

  • 106 Allowable Expenses Policy
  • 111 Third Party Information Policy
  • 201 Transparency Policy
  • 202 Election of Board Members

    - Discussed planning for the 2022 Annual General Meeting.

March 9, 2022

The Board met through video conference and completed the following items:

  • Approved the 2022/2023 Financial Budget
  • Reviewed long-term project budgets. 

February 16, 2022

The Board met through video conference and completed the following items:

  • Reviewed and accepted the 3rd quarter financials for the 2022 financial year.
  • Reviewed the Strategic Plan and the Risk Register.
  • Reviewed the College’s operational needs and approved necessary IT supports.
  • Discussed Legislation and Board professional development. 

December 8, 2021

The Board met through video conference and completed the following items:

  • Received updates on the Competencies for Occupational Therapists of Canada, COTNS Regulations, CIHI, and COTNS Committee work.
  • Reviewed and accepted the 2nd quarter financials for the 2022 financial year.
  • Approved the creation of a Registrar Advisory Committee.
  • Reviewed the strategic plan.
  • Discussed future College goals including improving the website, and College office space, and Board professional development. 

October 6, 2021

The Board met in person and completed the following items:

  • Received updates on the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations, the National Occupational Therapy Certification Exam, COTNS Regulations, and College Committees.
  • Reviewed the1st quarter financials for the 2022 financial year.
  • Reviewed the COTNS Risk Register and Confidentiality policy.
  • Adopted the proposed change in the interpretation of jurisdiction for the delivery of virtual-care services into Nova Scotia. Occupational therapists that are registered in another Canadian jurisdiction will not require registration in Nova Scotia if they were providing only virtual-care services; allowing the Virtual-Care Only Provisional category of registration to be closed.  Occupational therapists who will be providing in-person care in Nova Scotia will continue to require registration and licensure in Nova Scotia.
