The Board of the College

The Board of the College is responsible for governing, controlling, and administering the affairs of the College, as required by the Occupational Therapists Act, 1998.  The Board is composed of four occupational therapists elected by the registrants of the College and three public members who are appointed by the provincial government.

The Board is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Developing and maintaining the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic plan for the College.
• Appointing and overseeing the Registrar, who acts as the executive director of the College.
• Granting registration in accordance with the Occupational Therapists Act and Regulations.
• Maintaining a register of all the practicing occupational therapists licensed by the College in Nova Scotia.
• Appointing committees to assist in carrying out the duties pursuant to the Occupational Therapists Act, 1998.
• Establishing practice standards and guidelines that regulate the profession of occupational therapy in Nova Scotia.
• Establishing and maintaining policies and procedures to govern the affairs of the College.
